Welcome Dear Parent,
Welcome to Our Lady of Lourdes School. This website attempts to give you an insight into our school community,
our intentions, our values and the ways in which we try to live our daily lives.
Our Lady of Lourdes School was opened and blessed by the Right Reverend Thomas Holland, former
Bishop of Salford diocese, on December 7th 1978. The first phase of the school had been established in
1974 as a response to the demand for Catholic schooling in this area of the town.
If you and your child are to join us for the first time, we welcome you as a family and look forward to a
happy and successful association over the coming years. If you already have a child with us then we are
pleased to strengthen the links that already exist.
Our Lady of Lourdes exists to serve the Catholic community. We wish to make all pupils feel valued in a
Christian atmosphere and to help them achieve their full potential in a structured and happy school.
As a caring school, we emphasise working co-operatively with parents who are recognised as the
‘first and foremost educators’ of their children. We want you to gain a knowledge and understanding
of what is happening within the school. It is vital that mutual appreciation and trust should be the basis
of our shared responsibility.
You are most welcome to our school community. If you require any further information beyond
this website, please contact our school.
With best wishes,
D. M. Kiernan
