Admissions

Admission Policy

Application for admission to Our Lady of Lourdes school is decided by the Governing Body. This is a Roman Catholic Voluntary Aided Co - Educational School maintained by Bury Local Education Authority and in partnership with our sister school Guardian Angels RC Primary School.

The Governing Body has entered into an agreement with the Local Education Authority that  children admitted to the school must be baptised Roman Catholics.

The size of the admission group will be limited to a maximum of twenty.  The overall total for the school will be limited to 140.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Admission Criteria are:-

  1. Baptised Roman Catholic children, resident in the area of Our Lady of Good
  2. Counsel and Guardian Angels’ Parish allocated to Our Lady of Lourdes School, with a brother or sister  in the school.
  3.  
  4. Baptised Roman Catholic children, resident in the area of Our Lady of Good
  5. Counsel and Guardian Angels’ Parish allocated to Our Lady of Lourdes School.
  6.  
  7. Baptised Roman Catholic children with a brother or sister in the school.
  8.  
  9. Baptised Roman Catholic children, resident in the parish of Our Lady of Good
  10. Counsel and Guardian Angels.
  11.  
  12. Other baptised Roman Catholic children
  13.  
  14. The Governors reserve the right to admit any child for special circumstances or need should they feel this school best fits the child’s needs.

 

 

 

If the school was to become overcrowded by the exercise of this policy then principles of ease of access and proximity will apply to determine pupil admission.
Proximity shall be defined as the shortest available walking route.

Parents of pupils who have not been allocated a place at the school have recourse to the appeals procedure.
